COMMUNICATION CENTRE REVERSAL On 30 September 2025 we partially reversed part of the communication centre deployment. This means all organisation domains have been switched off in TalentLink and all emails sent from TalentLink will now default to a new myjobscotland managed domain "@talentlink.myjobscotland.gov.uk". Why? Major email providers (inc. Gmail and Yahoo) continue to implement stricter and stricter security requirements leading to emails bouncing, being flagged as spam or even being completely blocked by the recipients inbox. With hundreds of domains in TalentLink its impossible to maintain as relies on all customers updating domain settings for each domain they have each time a change applies.
How does it work?
All emails coming out of TalentLink will appear to come from <sender>@talentlink.myjobscotland.gov.uk
For example, if an email is configured to come from "jobs@cosla.gov.uk"

this will be received in the candidates mail box as "jobs@talentlink.myjobscotland.gov.uk"

NOTE: Consider your current communication templates and ensure these include your organisation name as a minimum so that it is clear who sent the email. If you look a little closer, you will see and hashed ID within the email address:

This ID recognises where in TalentLink the email came from and if the candidate replies directly to the email, the ID will channel the response via TalentLink to log within the candidates account before sending on to the actual sending email.
What is the TalentLink Communication Centre (TCC)?
The TCC is configuration between your email servers and the TalentLink Recruitment Platform.
Customers can choose to verify either:
- Top domain, e.g. @example-customer-domain-name.gov.uk, which automatically will allow to use any subdomains of the top domain (e.g. @de.example-customerdomain-name.gov.uk, @uk.examplecustomer-domain-name.gov.uk, @cn.examplecustomer-domain-name.gov.uk)
- Or set of specific subdomains (for example: @de.example-customer-domainname.gov.uk, @uk.example-customer-domain-name.gov.uk, @cn.example-customerdomain-name.gov.uk instead of @example-customer-domain-name.gov.uk) which will allow to use only the listed domains.
Why do we need to use this?
Since implementation in 2015 we have experienced issues with candidate not receiving emails / spam filters blocking interview invites and other communications sent through TalentLink. We are now in a position to resolve some of these issues by setting up the communication centre which will allow organisation users to send communications from TalentLink from their own email address without being blocked by the recipients spam filters.
*This reduces the number of spam emails recognised from an inbox but candidate filters may still block emails*
- The TCC will improve trust between the candidate and the recruiting organisation knowing that communications are legitimate.
- Significantly reduce the chance of emails being blocked by spam filters and subsequently increase interview response rates.
- Is required to use new communication functionality including SMS
From February 2024 - Seeing more undeliverable emails? This is due to changes Google and Yahoo have introduced (and comms centre will help overcome) you can read more here:- Gmail security authentication changes
