These include essential fields which are either a fundamental part of how TalentLink works, or a prerequisite of information required for the front end search. Optional fields are added to meet the needs of the recruiting organisation.
Essential Fields
The essential fields must be used by all organisations. We do not personalise the selections to these fields with the exception of defaulting and limiting which of the available options are visible. They are listed as follows:
Job Location: This will shortly replace Geographical Area, Location and Postcode as we deploy geotagging.

Internal/External: Dictates whether the position will appear in search results.

Job Sub-Category: a myjobscotland job search filter linked to the above selection
Candidate Salary Search: a myjobscotland job search filter
Will you consider applicants for this job with no qualifications or experience?: a NEW myjobscotland job search filter displayed as “Refresh Your Career” designed to help those get into the workforce.
Number of positions: this headcount is linked to hiring candidates and will auto close your requisition on TalentLink once the full headcount have been “Hired”
Contract type: a myjobscotland job search filter, cannot be changed after initial selection in the job requisition however can be changed on the hiring tab when defining conditions of the successful candidate.
Salary: Displayed on job adverts on myjobscotland
Work Hours: Displayed on job adverts on myjobscotland
Position Type: a myjobscotland job search filter
Term Time Only Contract: NEW myjobscotland search filter following the removal of confusing combination position types.
Comments: We cannot deactivate this box, it can be used in whichever way your organisation chooses or it can be ignored.
Optional Fields
In addition to the above fields, many organisations have additional field set up against the requisition which are used for contracts, reporting and simply useful information to the organisation to identify the role on the system.

- Contract End Date
- External Funding
- Post Specific questions(e.g. driving licence, screenings required etc)
